    Tomorrow! Tournament!

I have been training KARATE-DO for over two years, yet I have only been in the tournament for twice.

The first time, I met a "Big Man", extra size plus a full brown belt. Never be afraid of telling you that I was really scard of it, trembling when I was standing on the mattress. All the skills that I had learned evaporated, left only all the fears. I am very glad that I won't have such a feeling now because Michael said you must feel your fears and you pains!

The second time, a black belt stood in front of me, stared at me into my eyes. I nearly forgot what I was thinking in that moment. The mind was dragged from the inside of my body to my opponent, there is a connention between us and any disturbance from either side will cause a hit from the other. We jumped for 3 minutes and I lost him 1 point, what I pity!

Now, my third tournament is coming. No matter how, I have been preparing for it for this whole week! I am looking forward of it.

    Li Sao The Lament

Qu Yuan was a native of the kindom of Chu during the Warring States period(475 - 221 BC). Born at Zigui country in northern Xiang(modern Hunan province), his given name was Ping, while Yuan was his alias. He was known as an erudite scholar and eloquent rhetorician at an early age. A member of the royal house of Chu, Qu Yuan was summoned to serve at court in his early twenties and was a favourite of King Huai.

At the time there were seven powers, among which Qin, Qi and Chu were strongest. The three contended for hegemony in the empire. To strengthen the position of Chu, Qu yuan proposed a number of reform measures. internally, he suggested the establishment of a sound legal system and the employment of men of talent. Externally, he proposed to establish an alliance with other powers against the powerful Qin. in 318 BC, such an alliance wasz formed and King huai was recognized as the leader.

Qu Yuan's success drew the envy of Jin Shang, a high-ranking courtier. He slandered Qu Yuan, alleging that Qu yuan was vain and boastful of his role in the legal reforms and failed to give credits to the king. king huat was furious. Consequently, qu Yuan was demoted and banished to the Han River region. He was forbidden to return to ying, the capital of Chu.

While in exile, Qu Yuan composed the masterpiece Li Sao. According to the early source, "li sao" means "encountering sorrow". In the poem, Qu Yuan expresses his sorrow and reaffirms his loyalty. he lements the folly of the king and is bittter about the corruption of the court. To a large extent, li sao is anexpression of the poet's ideal and an embodiment of his incorruptable spirit.

With Qu Yuan in banishment, the king of the rival state of Qin dispatched a certain Zhang yi to Chu. Zhang yi persuaded King Huai to end the alliance with Qi, the powerful state. In return, Zhang Yi promosed to give Chu the district called Shangyu, which was said to cover an area of six hundred Chinese miles. king Huai coveted the piece of land and thus agreed to sever ties with Qi. When Qu Yuan heard the news, he was deeply depressed. Despite his anxiety, he could nothing to stop the king. Later, when King Huai despatched an envoy to Qin to claim the piece of land at Shangyu, the king of Qin denied ever making the promise and Zhang Yi said he had only had an area of six, not six hundred, miles to cede to Chu. King Huai was infuriated and launched two expeditions against Qin. But both the region of Hanzhong. Only then did King Huai realize what a big mistake it was to sever ties with Qi. He therefore summoned Qu Yuan urgently back to court and appointed him a special envoy to Qi to reestablish alliance between the two states. During the four years that followed, Chu and Qi joined forces against Qin. Nevertheless, Qu Yuan was never aiain put in any important position as before.

In 299 BC, King Zhao of Qin(reigned 306 - 251 BC) asked King Huai to meet him at the place called Wu Guan. Zilan, younger son of King Huai, urged his father to go. Qu Yuan remonstrated against going, but King Huai would not listen to him. Upon his arrival at Wu Guan, King Huai was detained. Qin demanded huge areas of lang in ransom. King Huai refused and died as prisoner in Qin in 296 BC.

The elder son of King Huai ascended the throne and was known as King Qingxiang. Apprehensive of a possible move of Qu Yuan to bring charges against him for his role in urging King huai to the meeting, Zilan slandered Qu Yuan again and again to King Qingxiang. As a result, Qu Yuanwas banished again, this time further south in the jiang River region.

In 278 BC, Qin invaked Chu and occupied ying, the Chu capital. King Qingxiang could barely escape and Chu was on the verge of destruction. haggard and dishevelled, the gried-stricken poet wandered all day long around the Milo River area, chanting his sad songs. Eventually, on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, he drowned himself in the Milo River, leaving behind a legacy of a man of untarnished integrity and a patriotic poet of deep emotions. Legend has it that upon hearing his drowning, the people of Chu dropped rice dumplings into the river and raced dragon boats on it so that the fishes would not eat his body. The day when Qu Yuan drowned himself comes to known as the Duan Wu Fesitival or the Dragon Boat Festival. On this day, people would make rice dumplings and uphold the age-long tradition of racing dragon boats, in memory of the patriotic poet.

    Sankes on a plane

If you got at all caught up in the hype of this movie, even so much as chuckled at any of the viral videos inspired by its epic title (or at the title itself!), you will LOVE this film. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Sex, drugs, violence, gore, guns, other unlikely weapons, deadly reptiles, predictable plot, occasionally questionable acting, tacky CGI, factual inaccuracies, physical impossibilities... I mean, this movie has something for anyone with a pulse.

It has achieved the perfect balance: it is bad enough to be funny, but good enough to be great. If you ever find yourself less than thrilled to be watching it, all you have to do is remember the title and suddenly it's amazing! Really the best thing about it (other than the concept/title) is that, on the whole, it's not a terribly made film. Plus, at least for the screening at our theater, the whole audience was completely into it. People were cheering and clapping and everyone was psyched just to be there.

If you think the idea is lame, if you don't "get it" and don't want to, well, I don't know what to tell you. You've already made up your mind what you're going to think about this movie. But even if you've never heard of it, approach with an open mind and you won't be disappointed. GO SEE IT!

PS: I really can not organize a good english article but I still can not use my chinese, forgive.
